In the UK, Facebook Marketplace is still mostly local: buyers collect or you sort out postage, and Facebook takes no fee. Work out your profit after costs.

How it works

How Facebook Marketplace charges in the UK

For a normal UK Marketplace sale, the buyer pays you directly, by cash, bank transfer or however you agree, so there’s no Facebook fee to take. If you post the item, you set the postage and pay for it yourself.

How it sellsFee

Facebook checkout with deliveryNot offered in the UK at the moment. Meta’s checkout terms list 2% of the total for the UK

In the US, Marketplace checkout charges a 10% selling fee (at least US$0.80), but that doesn’t apply to UK sellers. Payment apps you use with the buyer may have their own fees.

Not fully confirmed: Facebook’s UK help pages say checkout with delivery “isn’t available in your location at the moment”, but Meta’s checkout terms still list a 2% fee for the UK. The 2% option follows those terms in case it comes back. Facebook doesn’t publish a page that says local sales are free; they are because the money never goes through Facebook.
