How eBay charges UK business sellers
Business sellers pay a final value fee when an item sells: a percentage of the total amount of the sale (the item price, postage and any taxes), which depends on the category, plus a per-order fee of 30p on orders of £10 or less and 40p on orders over £10. On top of that is a regulatory operating fee of 0.35% of the total.
| Category | Final value fee |
|---|---|
| Clothes, Shoes & Accessories | 11.9% |
| Trainers | 11.9%, or 7% if the item price is £100 or more |
| Women’s Bags & Handbags | 12.9% up to £800, then 7% |
| Jewellery & Watches | 14.9% up to £1,000, then 4% |
| Books, Films, Music, Video Games | 9.9% |
| Phones, Laptops, Tablets, Cameras, TVs, Audio | 6.9% up to £1,000, then 3% |
| Collectables, Toys, Antiques, Art, Health & Beauty | 10.9% |
| Home, Furniture & DIY | 11.9% up to £500, then 7.9% |
| Everything Else, Crafts, Job Lots | 12.9% |
The bands apply to the part of the sale in each band, per item. eBay’s page lists more categories; the calculator has the main ones. All business fees are quoted before VAT. Items sent abroad add an international fee (1.05% to the eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% to the US and Canada, 2% elsewhere), and Below Standard sellers pay 6 more percentage points.
Selling as a private individual instead? See the eBay private seller calculator: no final value fee on most things.
Not fully confirmed: eBay’s page doesn’t say whether the £10 line for the 30p or 40p per-order fee includes postage. The calculator uses the total with postage, the same total the other fees use. Some Collectables and Home & DIY categories have a lower 10p per-order fee on orders up to £10, which the calculator doesn’t apply.

What is the eBay final value fee for business sellers?
A percentage of the total amount of the sale, including postage, that depends on the category: for example 11.9% for clothes and shoes, 9.9% for books and video games, 12.9% for Everything Else, and 6.9% up to £1,000 then 3% for phones and laptops. Then add the per-order fee (30p or 40p) and the 0.35% regulatory operating fee.
Does eBay charge its final value fee on postage?
Yes. For business sellers the final value fee, the regulatory operating fee, international fees and the Promoted Listings rate are all worked out on the total amount of the sale, which includes postage.
Do eBay business fees include VAT?
No. eBay quotes business seller fees before VAT. Tick or untick “Add 20% VAT” in the calculator depending on whether you can reclaim it.
What is the eBay regulatory operating fee?
A fee of 0.35% of the total amount of the sale (item, postage and taxes) for UK business sellers. Private sellers in the UK don’t pay it.

eBay’s fees are one line of your margin. Listing time is another. FlipSync is a Chrome extension for UK resellers: write an item once, post it to 26 marketplaces (8 with full support), and it comes down everywhere else when it sells. It tracks profit after fees for you too.
